Portfolio: Diplomatic Mission

U.S. Embassy, Prague, Czech Republic

Client: U.S. Department of State

Description:

Built in the 1600s as the Schoemborn Palace, the building was purchased by the U.S. Government in 1925 to house employees who would further the U.S. Embassy's diplomatic mission.  In the mid-80s, surveys conducted by the BPA team revealed roof and floor structures that required repair and upgrades to house a modern Embassy that meet modern structural and security needs.  Providing total engineering coordination, BPA led the effort to conduct necessary renovations to the aging building.  The team also put in place necessary upgraded structural and design elements to install a new communications center.
