U.S. Embassy, Rome, Italy
Client: U.S. Department of State
Description:
Once home to Julius Caesar and more recently in modern history, home to Queen Margherita, the first queen of Italy, the U.S. Embassy Compound in Rome is rich in history. Known as Palazzo Margherita before it was purchased by the U.S. Government, the Embassy is housed in a 300 year-old building that has been very carefully preserved and upgraded to meet modern security requirements. Taking into account the historical significance of the structure and its location, BPA led a team to renovate and upgrade all aspects of the North Wing required for the building to function as part of this U.S. Embassy. All new designs were completed while preserving the artistic beauty of the building.
